De Boer
De Boer Supermarkten was founded in 1925 by Jan and Evert de Boer. In 1921, Jan de Boer opent a shop in Veelerveen and moved to Coevorden to open the first selfservice shop. In 1925 Evert de Boer joined him. In 1974, De Boer founded the alcohol stores Mitra. In 1980, De Boer started their own pharmacies as Trekpleister and acquired B&W. In 1982, De Boer acquired Fred van der Werff. In 1987, De Boer sold all their bonds to the AMRO Bank. In 1988, De Boer acquired the Heto group and the stores of VDM. In 1994, De Boer took over the stores from Gebroeders de Jong. In 1997, the supermarkets were merged into Unigro and renamed to Super De Boer, after which was for the most part taken over by Jumbo in 2009.
